The Cavalier Riding Club has once again begun a new riding session. We're glad to welcome back Linda Hooper as a temporary boarder along with Ima Sweet Sierra (Josie) as well as the resident pony Cowboy.
Josie has also come back for some practice time as she and Linda will once again be part of the drill team. The girls have chosen their music, are discussing their costumes and will start putting together their patterns for the competition to come later in the summer.
Our resident Thoroughbred, Kaiko has found herself a new home! She's now a resident of Nova Scotia, in a great little place, and with another Roberta! We wish you all the best with Kaiko and hope you enjoy her as much as we did.
It is with great sadness to announce that, after a brave and long fight with cancer, our fellow border Ann Murray passed away on April 17. In memory of Ann, a few of us braided purple ribbons in all the horse's manes at the barn. Purple was Ann's favorite color.
Ann Catherine Murray (1959-2011)

MURRAY, ANN CATHERINE “ It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ann Murray, 51, of Upper Coverdale, NB, at the Moncton Hospital on April 17, 2011. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, she was the eldest child of Charles and Elsie (Doyle) Chamberlaine of Moncton. Ann was the beloved wife of Brian Murray and cherished mother of Christopher Murray (Jessica). She is also survived by her beautiful granddaughter, Sunshine Ann; her brothers John (Ann) of Moncton; Aidan (Louanne) of Lower Sackville; and by her sisters Lisa (Rob) Cole of Riverview and Sara (Craig) Crossman of Moncton. Her nieces and nephews were so dear to her and she valued them greatly. Ann was a well-known and respected horsewoman who trained at the world-famous Iris Kellett Riding School in Ireland earning her British Horse Society Assistant Instructor certification. Upon graduation she spent a year working with horses in Bermuda. Many horseback riding students at Horizon Farm in Pine Glen will remember her as a gifted, patient, and articulate teacher who was quick to praise and encourage. She was instrumental in founding the therapeutic horseback riding program known as the Cavalier Riding Club where she became a certified coach working with the differently-abled in our community. Ann was a past president of the Greater Moncton Horse Club, and was involved for many years in pony club, 4-H, and as an official steward at horse shows. With her much loved horses, Lolly and Fancy Free, Ann enjoyed competing in cross country events and in area horse shows. Ann was a recipient of the Helen Campbell Memorial Award for her enormous contribution to the horse world in New Brunswick. More recently Ann was an employee of Co-op Atlantic in Moncton. In her spare time she enjoyed Sundays with her family, biking with Brian, crazy YaDa weekends, and precious time with Sunny. Ann Murray will be deeply missed by her family and by the many friends who admired and loved her for her courage, her loyalty, and her integrity. Donations in Ann’s memory can be made to the Cavalier Riding Club, 133 Patricia Drive, Riverview NB E1B 5H1 or the memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. In honoring Ann’s wishes there will be no public service. The arrangements are entrusted to Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007).
